The selection committee, consisting of leading Czech animation specialists selected 242 films, from 38 countries. The total films sent to the committee was 1,344 from 59 countries. The Rubbish Monster is one of the finalists for the Commissioned Category at the 6th International Festival of Animated Films in the Czech Republic.

The animated film is also officially selected for TV & Commissioned films category at the 4th KAFI.The film is also among 169 selected films out of 1,275 films from 65 countries for the 11th Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival. More than 130,000 people are expected to attend the SICAF between the 23rd and the 27th May 2007. The winners will be announced on the 27th at CGV Yongsan, Seoul AniCinema.
